In 2011, I had the privilege of being asked to create a poetry series for the Craft Contemporary (formerly The Craft & Folk Art Museum of Los Angeles).

The idea was to commission three contemporary poets to create new work in response to the changing exhibitions. Starting with  guests Ilya Kominsky, Cecilia Woloch, and Arash Saedinia, the project was a huge success. As emcee and curator, I can't tell you how honored I was, especially to be able to associate myself with Craft Contemporary. For five years thereafter, poets were brought from all over the country to share fresh and original work. Contributors included Mary Ruefle, Natalie Diaz, Bruce Snider, William Archilla, Dean Young, Kim Addonizio, Mindy Nettifee, Amy Gerstler, Solmaz Sharif, Steven Reigns and many others. Sadly, in 2016 the project ran into funding problems and the series stopped.

At last, as of 2021, we're back with generous support from the Ruskin Art Club and Denenberg Fine Arts.  On April 24th, poets Kaveh Akbar, Paige Lewis, and our city's new Poet Laureate, Lynne Thompson will kick-off our return with exciting new words, celebrating the work of glass artist Kazuki Takizawa.

We're still finalizing a few technical details, so I don't have links yet, but stay tuned!!!
